The 'WÄLDERHAUS' (Forest House) is a unique project of the International Building Exhibition (IBA Hamburg). It is architecturally and globally unique in providing a conceptually new multi-functional building and stands at the former main entrance of the international garden show (IGS). It sets a visual accent with its design and a wooden facade. The basic idea is clearly conveyed with its "forest and wood" theme and does not only run through the interior of the WÄLDERHAUS, but through all its areas. During construction, the prefabricated timber wall system needed to be precisely placed in situ. An architectural 2D CAD drawing was imported into Flexijet 3D software, FlexiCAD. The intersections and endpoints of the timber frame walls could then be accurately and quickly marked on-site using the unique point projection feature of the Flexijet 3D laser measurement system. All that was required was to just select a CAD point in the drawing that represents the endpoint of a wall, and Flexijet 3D would rotate and precisely show you with the laser dot, the CAD point on the construction site! Nothing could be easier.
The innovative point projection feature of Flexijet 3D enabled the walls over the building's three levels to be installed in only 6 days instead of the estimated 21 days!
