The late-Gothic Albrechtsburg Castle rises majestically above the picturesque Elbe River valley. Built in the 15th century, Meissen Albrechtsburg Castle is regarded to be Germany’s oldest castle. The necessity for a new hardwood floor at the castle required the contractors, 'Hirschfelder Parquetry' to accurately measure the existing floor prior to the commencement of work. Angela Martin was engaged to create a digital 3D layout that included the detailed measurement of the varying floor levels and the location of heater niches. Using the automated surface scan feature of Flexijet 3D, the height differences of the existing floor were easily determined.
In less than 3 hours, a complete 3D CAD file containing all the necessary information and reference points were created. This provided the parquetry professionals with accurate dimensions to the nearest millimetre for the calculation and production of the new flooring.
